The Biography of Li Fu

Two close friends are studying at a military academy in ancient times. One is clever and quick-witted, with a silver tongue. The other is tongue-tied and as dense as a block of wood. One has no connections or powerful family, and comes from the countryside. The other is the nephew of Emperor Wu of Han, son of the Xiongnu Chanyu, and heir to the Xiongnu throne. The clever one has powerful connections, and is always scheming against his friend. In the end, the clever one’s life becomes a complete mess, while the dull one takes things one step at a time and, through hard work and a love of learning, turns his fortunes around like a salted fish flipping over, carving out a brilliant future for himself.
