(A new story is here, a Grave Robbers' Chronicles fanfic. Apologies for the out-of-character portrayals; if that bothers you, please don't read.) The clan leader of the ancient Bai Ze race was unearthed one day and chosen as a specially invited System user, then transmigrated into The Grave Robbers' Chronicles to preserve the integrity of the world. Interference from various transmigrators had made that world extremely unstable, so she had to keep it in order.
Yan Bingyi: The Qilin clan leader?
Zhang Qiling: ...
Zinedine (Hei Xiazi): Well, look who's still alive.
Xie Yuchen: You all know each other?
Wang Yueban: Little Brother, you've got quite the connections.
Wu Xie: Little Brother, you really know her?
Zhang Qiling: Yes.
Yan Bingyi looked at this strange group and settled down to lie flat. None of them were good people, so she wouldn't be needed. But then along came the ridiculous National Destiny System, issuing one absurd scenario after another. For example: "Beginner's Return to the Past Scenario." Mission difficulty: Return to the past, play your former self, and change the predetermined ending. (Note: The timeline begins in the late Qing dynasty.)
Yan Bingyi's face went blank as she cursed in her hometown dialect: What are you trying to pull? National Destiny System, what are you trying to pull? She turned and found Zhang Qiling gazing at her calmly.
Yan Bingyi: ?
Zhang Qiling: During the Qing dynasty, you were with the Qi family.
Yan Bingyi: So?
Zhang Qiling: You took care of Hei Xiazi.
Oh, right. Hei Xiazi was still a little kid back then. She glanced at the other three. They were his friends later on. The National Destiny System wouldn't leave its chosen ones outside the scenario, and the title was Return to the Past, so they would have to be born again. Oh my, she'd get to see all four of them as children. Not a bad deal. Too bad Qilin was even older than her, so she wouldn't get to see him as a child.
