Reborn in That Era! The Capital City

I’m new to this, so please be kind. This is Chen Qijun’s second life after transmigrating. He spent half his previous life barely getting by, and after being reborn, all he wants is to live freely according to his own wishes for once. Set in 1960s Beijing, the story follows the protagonist as he first serves in the military and contributes to his country, then returns to civilian life, collecting antiques and dabbling in business. It features characters and plotlines from various films and TV shows, though it doesn’t follow much of the original material. They’re mainly there to enrich the story, and the fictional setting allows more creative freedom. You can read it as a stress-relief novel. There’s a System, but it won’t be the main focus. The protagonist isn’t a self-sacrificing saint, has a working brain, and the story tries to stay reasonable. The plot is entirely fictional, so don’t connect it to reality or read too much into it. Without further ado, here’s the story.
