She was the legitimate eldest daughter of the Chancellor's household, peerless in talent and beauty, and famous throughout the capital. There was no shortage of noble young men who wanted to marry her.
But she loved only Shangguan Minglang, an obscure, disfavored prince down on his luck. To marry him, she used all the talent and cunning she had, along with the power of her maternal uncle's general's household, to raise him from an illegitimate, younger, disfavored prince to the crown prince, second only to The Outcast.
But she never received the position of Crown Princess he had promised her. Instead, she was struck by a bolt from the blue. Her maternal uncle's family, who had helped Shangguan Minglang rise to power, were executed to the last member for treason. And the woman about to enter the Eastern Palace as Crown Princess was her stepsister.
Shangguan Minglang said coolly, "Love you? I have never loved you, not once. My heart has always belonged to Wan'er. You and the Qin family were nothing but stepping stones on my path to power..."
The Great Yan Princess gave him a knowing smile. "Shangguan Minglang, I intend to strike at your heart as well as take your life. Not only will I kill the woman you love and take your position as crown prince, I'll make you watch as the throne you've dreamed of falls into someone else's hands. Whatever you want, I'll take it from you without hesitation, then hand it over to someone else."
"Hahaha..." Yan Yunxi laughed aloud, her radiant smile bold and unrestrained.
