Cheng Chen, a senior network information engineer and the undercover hacker known as “White Leopard,” meets musician Murong Xiaotian in the virtual world of the “Kindred Hearts” app, and sparks fly between them. When his family goes bankrupt, Xiaotian gives up on his musical dreams. The flame of their new love dies out, and he vanishes from the internet.
Cheng Chen’s mother urges her “leftover woman” daughter to return to the real world. As Cheng Chen prepares to marry a man she met on a blind date, a string of tragedies unfolds: a colleague and close friend is swindled out of her entire fortune by her boyfriend, and another friend is murdered.
All the clues point to the “Kindred Hearts” platform. Cheng Chen vows to bring the criminals to justice. She secretly investigates and discovers the dark underbelly hidden behind the platform.
Then the platform’s operators offer Cheng Chen a little-known video of Xiaotian in exchange for the evidence she has obtained. But she refuses to be swayed. When Cheng Chen insists on taking the risk alone and ends up in danger, Xiaotian secretly steps in to rescue her. The two work together and help the police expose the “Kindred Hearts” app’s crimes to the public.
In the end, will Cheng Chen and Murong Xiaotian leave the virtual world behind and get together? Stay tuned.
