It feels like watching an American TV series. There is no nonsense or delay in scene switching, and the necessary plot advancement is made.
I particularly like Helen and Jack, mainly because of their "you can't have everything" attitude towards life. You don't always meet people with such an attitude in life, but whenever you do, they will become a treasure in your life. Flanagan's "Everything is trying to trouble me" is very life-like, so raw and cute, so it's also very personal, troubled and helpless.
~~~
Good stories are easy to tell, mainly because,
1. The setting of clues and the revelation of ideas are very clever, layer by layer, and the onion can be peeled half-layered and half-layered.
2 The protagonist, mainly Jack, always inadvertently goes through a similar process to the case, and experiences similar situations as either the murderer or the victim.
