In an ancient empire, political schemes unfold like a game of chess in the dead of night, with mystery and danger close at hand. Su Yun, an unremarkable live-in son-in-law, accidentally uncovers a long-buried secret about the imperial bloodline and finds himself at the center of a storm. Once dismissed as worthless, he now bears the responsibility of overturning the established order.
Caught in the palace’s treacherous infighting and the political whirlpool of undercurrents, Su Yun must tread carefully through the schemes while fending off assassinations and betrayal from every side. Loyal ministers of the past turn into enemies, the emperor’s attitude grows suddenly cold, and even his once-close friends walk away. Su Yun’s reforms increasingly clash with the emperor’s interests, and the Game of Thrones leaves him in an unprecedented predicament.
His wife, Wang Ruyan, stands steadfastly by his side. For love and faith, she doesn’t hesitate to turn against the entire court. Together, they face the coming battle for life and death. As the storm grows ever more violent, Su Yun must skillfully maneuver amid deadly political schemes and uncover the secrets hidden beneath them, winning the final victory for himself and the dynasty.
This book takes you into a world of intrigue and ingenuity, telling the legendary story of how a live-in son-in-law turned the tables and became king on the chessboard of power. Political schemes and romance, wisdom and courage, all come together in this stirring historical tale.
Not bad!
Not bad, I can watch it. The later chapters are better than the previous ones. I thought Su Yun was so awesome, like a god.
