House of Daybreak

This novel tells the story of a tragic family of six. The father, Fang Mingyuan, was framed and sent to prison. The family now depends entirely on the mother, Wen Hui, and her monthly salary of just over ten thousand yuan. Most of their savings were seized in fines after the father was imprisoned, so they had practically nothing left. The family lives on the mother’s wages alone, while all four children are still in school. The siblings are all the same age and are seniors at Huaiyuan High School. The family’s one advantage is that both parents place great importance on their children’s education, including not only traditional schooling but also extracurricular learning. Their mother is a psychologist and teaches psychology at a university. The eldest son, Fang Zheng, loves law; the second son, Fang Zhi, is an expert in cybersecurity; the third child, Fang Yu, studies traditional Chinese medicine; and the youngest, Fang Qing, studies economics. Each has pursued a field of study since childhood and achieved deep expertise in it. This is the family’s only hope.
