Chang'an

What is Chang'an? Where plants flourish, follow the Way of non-action; leave behind the countless ages, and find peace through eternity. (This book was inspired by Phoenix Mountain in Dandong, Liaoning Province, and is also known as Phoenix Mountain.) The auspicious ancient beast Phoenix, Pangu's Phoenix, transformed into two incarnations through a twist of fate. One took human form as a wayward young man. Together with Pangu's Ba Snake, Ba Tiandi, he wreaked havoc across the Three Realms in later generations, leaving the mighty figures of the Upper Realm deeply troubled. Then, as fate would have it, he lost his memories. The other took human form as a woman named Zhuo Wenjun. She loved boldly and hated fiercely, and followed the wayward young man through several lifetimes. Bound by the Heavenly Dao, obsession, karma, and more, they were ultimately destined to love without finding fulfillment. Phoenix and Fenghuang were originally one, and if they fell in love, they could never both have their way. And yet they chose to defy heaven...
