The "Ancient Mythology" series is a popular reading book on ancient history written by literary and historian Zhong Yulong. This volume tells the history of the three generations of Emperor Ku, Emperor Zhi, and Emperor Yao, from Shaohao's birth in Qiongsang, Emperor Ku's assistant Zhuan Xu to Emperor Yao's teacher Yin Shou, who recommended Xu You and other four sages. Many of these stories have been passed down to this day, such as Gonggong's domination of Kyushu, Nuwa's making stones to mend the sky, Gonggong's touching of Mount Buzhou, Houji's birth being abandoned three times, and the battle between Huangdi and Chiyou, etc.
