The first character biography in the Who Killed Whom series, The Chronicles of Wanjiang: The fantasy elements are minimal!
Legend has it that one hundred and twenty years later, the Eternal King will return to the mortal world and lead it into paradise. On that day, a golden dragon will appear in the sky, and the light from its eyes will be reborn as Wanjiang and Zhang Qibei. After the imperial court has Wanjiang's father killed, Wanjiang harbors a deep grudge. For the first thirty years of his life, he is abused by his uncle and cousins. After accidentally killing a cousin, he flees and is taken in by Old Sun. He later wanders the land and meets Xu Ji'an. When chaos engulfs the realm, the two flee to the Yihe Zhaozong sect on Mount Yihezhao, where Wanjiang learns a variety of philosophies. Years later, unwilling to remain content with a small domain, he leaves the mountain and learns that the general Wan Li is a childhood friend. He enlists, embarking on a decades-long military career. During this time, he meets Zhang Qibei. Their conflict only begins to ease after it leads to Wan Li's tragic death. The Marquis's power grows so great that Wanjiang's forces are wiped out. He flees south, while Zhang Qibei escapes west and establishes the Great Eastern Kingdom. Wanjiang grows stronger, destroys the Eastern Qi King and others, and proclaims himself the reincarnation of the Eternal King. Ji Daoqian seizes the state and declares himself emperor, founding the (Eastern) Marquis regime. The Yuangejie dynasty falls, and its remnants flee to the far west, where they become the Western Jie. The Alliance of Three Kings launches a joint campaign against the Marquis, but repeatedly finds itself on the defensive. The Marquis dies of illness after overworking himself, and his successor proves incompetent. Civil war breaks out within the regime, allowing the Four Kings Alliance to destroy the Eastern Marquis. Wanjiang and Zhang Qibei defeat Lü Bai and prepare to unify the realm, but the two unexpectedly fall out. The Western Yan regime splits into the Yong and Yan regimes, Zhang Qibei declares himself emperor, and the realm descends into the war between Yan and Yong. Wanjiang ultimately wins, establishes the Yong dynasty, and marches west to conquer the Western Jie...
