Kong Guotai is nearly thirty, a shut-in and office drudge who is fed up with his family pressuring him to get married. Feng Hui has known him since childhood, making them childhood sweethearts, and she faces the same pressure from her parents. Their families are eager to set them up, but neither Kong nor Feng has any interest in the other. The two households wage an endless back-and-forth campaign of matchmaking and resistance, leaving Kong and Feng thoroughly exasperated.
One day, they happen to find a “puppy.” After looking after it for days and seeing that it never grows, they realize it is actually a raccoon dog kit.
As China enters a period of rapid urbanization, new housing developments spring up everywhere, and wild animals begin sharing their habitats with people...
How can humans and raccoon dogs live together in harmony? It is a question facing scientists, and one that Kong Guotai and Feng Hui must confront as well.
