Twenty-Four Wangniang Shoals

Author: Zhou Churen, pen name: Wenyu Qiong.

This is the sequel to Twenty-Four Wangniang Shoals. The story tells how Yucheng’s charitable acts of distributing grain and serving porridge aroused the suspicions of government officials. In the end, Yucheng protected the Seven-Colored White Pearl. When someone tried to seize it by force, Yucheng swallowed it and transformed into a dragon. Unable to bear leaving his elderly mother behind, he turned back to look at her each time he traveled through the sea. He looked back at her twenty-four times, creating twenty-four shoals in the sea, which is why they were named the Twenty-Four Wangniang Shoals.
