Southern Song: Liu Shan Somehow Transmigrates into Zhao Gou

Liu Shan woke up to find himself in the body of Zhao Gou, Emperor Gaozong of Song, bearing the infamy of the Jingkang Humiliation and confined to a corner of the realm. After reflecting on the disaster, he resolved to wipe away the shame and restore the glory of the Song. Using Zhao Gou’s identity, he continued to play the part of an incompetent ruler, indulging in pleasure on the surface, while secretly working to win over the faction that favored war and build up loyal supporters. He also combined his previous life’s experience in governance and military strategy with the realities of the Southern Song, implementing reforms, developing the economy, and reorganizing the army until the dynasty grew steadily stronger. But Liu Shan’s grand ambitions met fierce resistance from the faction that favored peace, who saw him as a thorn in their side and wanted him eliminated. Faced with their schemes and the Jin kingdom’s menacing gaze, Liu Shan drew on his extraordinary wisdom and courage to fight one nail-biting battle of wits after another. In the end, he led the Southern Song army on a successful northern campaign, reclaimed lost territory, and washed away the shame of the Jingkang Humiliation.
