I, Sun Wukong, Became a Sage Through Merit. Who Do You Think You Are, Jade Emperor?

Sun Wukong is now a transmigrator. Over the course of a century, he develops hybrid rice and spreads it throughout the mortal world. One day, the King of Hell files a complaint. Taibai Jinxing volunteers to go to Flower-Fruit Mountain and recruit Sun Wukong, who “wreaked havoc in the underworld,” into Heaven. Sun Wukong flatly refuses. The Jade Emperor immediately sends troops to capture him. Sun Wukong doesn’t resist and is taken back to Heaven for trial. To everyone’s surprise, an investigation in Heaven reveals that Sun Wukong did not wreak havoc in the underworld. Instead, the underworld arrested people indiscriminately and then falsely accused him. The Jade Emperor is deeply embarrassed. Just then, he discovers to his surprise that Sun Wukong receives more offerings from the mortal world than he does! Even the forty thousand monkeys of Flower-Fruit Mountain have become immortal and gained eternal life through offerings from humankind. The Jade Emperor erupts in fury. “You vile monkey! How dare you set up divine offices on your own!” “You must die!” The Giant Spirit God is ordered to strike off Sun Wukong’s head. In the next instant, golden merit-light shines across millions of miles, and a halo of sacred merit appears behind Sun Wukong. The Jade Emperor is struck dumb with shock, and the immortals are terrified out of their wits. Sun Wukong slowly pulls the Golden Cudgel from his ear and points it at him. “Old Jade Emperor, is this how you rule Heaven? Looks to me like you don’t want the job anymore!”
