At our class reunion, a friend invited my ex-girlfriend.
When her chopsticks fell, I saw her in a short skirt and kindly bent down to pick them up. But when I looked up, she was watching me smugly.
“Lu Ming, even after all this time apart, you still like crouching in front of me like a lovesick puppy.”
When our classmates heard we had broken up, they started trying to talk me around.
“Lu Ming, just admit you were wrong. You two dated for so long. Don't break up over something so trivial.”
“Exactly. Zhenzhen's been with you all this time. She must care about you, or she wouldn't make such a fuss.”
Seeing this, my ex looked even more pleased with herself. “Lu Ming, if you want to get back together, just say so. I might even consider it. You don't need to get our classmates to plead your case, or grovel so pathetically. It only makes you seem cheap.”
I thought it was laughable. I stood up and took the hand of the woman by the door.
“I'd like to invite you all to my engagement party, three days from now.”
