[Caveats: starts out with a weak protagonist + a long buildup in the early chapters + romance]
[Slow-burn writing + no preachy lectures + earnest survival and farming]
No one knows what caused the catastrophe that swept across the globe. All they know is that a new element called Wu suddenly appeared in the air.
At first, humanity thought it was a blessing. Crop yields rose year after year, animals slowly grew larger, and the element even offered hope of curing the incurable diseases that threatened human lives.
Everyone let their guard down, forgetting that every great breakthrough in human history has hidden tremendous dangers behind it!
Humans are the most intelligent beings on Earth, so surely even if the world evolved, they would remain at its pinnacle. Reality, however, was far from so kind.
Under the influence of Wu, plants and animals developed self-awareness and awakened all kinds of supernatural abilities, while humans were left behind. Hunters became prey, and the world became a slaughterhouse for humanity.
With nowhere else to turn, humanity launched mushroom clouds across the globe. Radiation spread everywhere, and another artificially created element, Lu, began to seep into the air. A catastrophe had begun.
Eight whole years have passed since that day. Lin Ran has grown from twelve to twenty.
Now she plans to leave the safe zone that sheltered her for eight years and go farm out in the world.
Well, I don't want to complain that this is the second book. It seems to be exactly the same, with a few differences.
The writing is good, the animals are fun, and the new farming method is great!
