The Laid-Back Life of a Marriage First, Love Later

This is a fictional world and has no connection to reality.

A ruthless, scheming top who is gentle to his husband * a workaholic bottom who used to give everything his all, but now lies flat at the first sign of trouble

After working himself to death, Ruan Baichen transmigrates into a melodramatic novel. Since Heaven has granted him a second life, Ruan Baichen cheerfully decides to latch onto a powerful patron and become a happy little freeloader. The novel's lovesick, devoted second male lead, Xi Nanze, seems like a perfect choice: broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a great ass. He looks like he was designed to match Ruan Baichen's tastes. Ruan Baichen decides to rewrite the plot and give Xi Nanze what he wants. The two have a sweet marriage-before-love romance, and sure enough, just as Ruan Baichen expected, he falls for Xi Nanze. Just when he thinks this is how the rest of his life will go, he notices a few suspicious details...

Content warning: This is a writing exercise, and the prose may be a little amateurish. There may be pregnancy and childbirth in the extras (undecided). If you're looking for business battles or dramatic catfights, you won't find them here. The romance between the leads is the main focus. Even this freeloader doesn't lie completely flat. The completed novel will also undergo major revisions.

In a nutshell: When things don't go his way, he just checks out! Life is for living on your own terms.
