"Childhood" is one of Gorky's trilogy of autobiographical novels. It tells the story of how to grow up in a gray life. In the book, the protagonist Alyosha lost his father when he was three years old and was taken to his grandfather's house to live a sojourn life. Due to the downturn in the family business, my grandfather became overbearing and irritable, and the two uncles continued to quarrel and fight over the separation of the family. His mother couldn't bear this kind of life, so she abandoned him and left. In such a dirty environment, there is another kind of person and another life - the optimistic and simple little Gypsy, the upright old worker Grigory, the "good guy" who teaches Alyosha and arouses Alyosha's passionate yearning for life, and the kind and just grandmother who loves life and believes that good is better than evil. Later, the mother brought her stepfather back, and Alyosha had a younger brother. But life didn't get any better. Because he was poor and had no warmth at home, Alyosha was discriminated against and made things difficult for him at school, so he had to work with other children to pick and sell rags. As a result, he was criticized even more and dropped out of school after the third grade. At this time, his mother died again. After burying his mother, Alyosha went to the "human world" to make a living.
