The Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong: A Hilarious Quest for a Wife

(Journey to the West + comedy + Heavenly Dao chat group + Confucian cultivation) After completing his training at Fangcun Mountain, Sun Wukong discovered that his childhood sweetheart, Zixia, had mysteriously disappeared. He stormed Heaven and broke into the Underworld, then joined the Heavenly Dao Network, all to find out where she was. During his investigation, he transformed into an artsy young man and studied alongside Li Bai, Du Fu, Su Shi, and others. In secret, he even started writing novels. When the numbers looked dismal, he plucked out countless hairs and turned them into handsome readers who could leave likes for him. His investigation pointed ever more clearly to the Great Thunderclap Monastery in the Western Heaven as the mastermind. Just then, cicadas sang in the bodhi tree by the pond, calling someone down to the mortal world. So the Tathagata kicked Golden Cicada down to Earth, planning to make him the monk riding the horse in the scripture-seeking party. As for the sheep leading the group, Wukong claimed that role while heading west to investigate Zixia’s whereabouts. Add a pig who came over for the New Year and a monk who came ashore from the sand, and the pilgrimage party was complete. But why were the demons along this westward journey so shameless? Gao Cuilan donned ten miles of bridal finery and turned into a vengeful ghost; Zhu Bajie rescued a woman from the Underworld and married her. Sha Wujing couldn’t scoop up even a drop from the Three Thousand Weak Waters, while the White Dragon Horse carried Xuanzang through three trials. Unexpectedly, the master of the love trial couldn’t bear the thought of being widowed, and pulled Xuanzang off his horse in one swift move. “Royal Brother, let’s ride off together and enjoy the splendors of this world!” “Then you really didn’t need to pull me off my horse.”
