This story has no traditional villain, nor a world that must be saved. The protagonist seeks neither immortality nor ascension. He only hopes to find the answer to the question, “Who am I?” Along the way, he encounters Bai Lu, an old deer who can talk; a shadow that only tells stories; the spirit of an ancient mirror that can reveal past thoughts; Qing Tong, a mountain spirit given a name; and countless others trapped within their own obsessions.
