I think this book truly reflects the social reality of that era. Xiangzi's story touched me very much. I admired his efforts and persistence, but in the end he was defeated by the cruelty of society, which made people feel helpless. I especially hate the exploiters in the book, they are so cruel. However, this book also made me understand that we should cherish our current life, work hard, and not give up easily.
After reading too many online novels, and then reading Mr. Lao She's classics, I feel like a beggar who has eaten too many coarse grains and wild vegetables and accidentally ate delicacies from the mountains and the sea!
