Shangguan Luofan is a young woman doctor living in a small village. Her superb medical skills have earned her the villagers’ affectionate title of “Little Medicine Immortal.” Her life was carefree until bandits tried to force her into marriage, leaving her in a desperate bind. Bai Shuihan, the top assassin of the Shadow Fiend Palace, was poisoned after rejecting a woman’s advances. During an assassination mission, the poison flared up, leaving him wounded and sending him tumbling into a river.
After Bai Shuihan was injured, Shangguan Luofan rescued him. To repay her, he killed the bandits and agreed to escort her in search of her grandfather, the long-missing Divine Physician Shangguan. Together, they set off for Skylark Lake.
Along the way, one obstacle after another arose, and they encountered a string of bizarre cases, including the mysterious deaths of guests at an inn and the disappearance of a woman. Shangguan Luofan put her medical expertise and intelligence to full use, helping Bai Shuihan unravel the layers of mystery. Meanwhile, Bai Shuihan had made many enemies as an assassin and was hunted by forces from all sides. Shangguan Luofan, too, was pursued and cornered by various factions because of her identity.
Yet amid all these hardships, their feelings for each other grew stronger. Beneath Bai Shuihan’s cold exterior lay a deep love for Shangguan Luofan, while she gradually melted the ice in his heart. They protected each other, faced the trials of the martial world together, and joined forces to expose its many shifting, sinister conspiracies.
