Ever since the last expedition to defeat the Demon King ended in a crushing defeat, the surviving hero has spent his days in a daze, unable to eat or sleep.
And at some point, rumors began to spread that the expedition failed because the cowardly hero abandoned his comrades, who had shared life and death with him, at the final moment and ran off to save his own skin.
At first, people didn’t believe the rumors. But they kept gaining ground. It began as a fad among children, who went around repeating a few insults. That barely bothered the hero.
But when someone branded him a “coward,” he could no longer keep his cool. Before long, the name had stuck.
Now, with the front line between humans and demons under pressure, no one knows where that cowardly hero has gone.
Some say they saw him near the border. Others say he’s hiding in a quiet alley somewhere, drinking his life away.
But no one knows that in an unnamed village burned to ashes, he met Xina, a survivor who, just like his former self, lived for revenge.
And in that moment, he understood how to atone for the sins he had committed.
