The Gambler's Indulgence

Gambler: “God, why am I here? My life was ordinary. I never asked for much, and I never hurt anyone.”

“You call that ordinary? Every bet you placed, every coin you wagered, was proof of your greed. You gave yourself over to desire, staking your soul at the gambling table.”

Gambler: “I only wanted to win back some of what I’d lost, to give my family a stable life. Is that wrong?”

“Greed blinded you. You thought you were seeking stability, but you were only sinking deeper. You put everything you had on the line.”

Gambler: “What about redemption?”

“Redemption? That’s a difficult road.”

Gambler: “I’m not afraid to pay the price. If redemption is within reach, I’ll take any risk.”

“Very well. Let’s see how you struggle in this abyss of despair, and what you’ll sacrifice for this so-called redemption.”

Just then, a card bearing a number drifted down from the sky and slowly landed before him.

The gambler picked up the card. A glimmer of hope shone in his eyes, mingled with deep uncertainty. Could this card really lead him to redemption and free him from endless pain and torment?
