Su Shi’s Years in Huangzhou

Set during the Northern Song reign of Emperor Shenzong, after the Crow Terrace Poetry Case has ended and Su Shi has been banished to Huangzhou, this story follows his transformation from despair to calm, and then to resilience and open-hearted acceptance. Through the retelling of a series of real events and the lives of real people, it depicts Su Shi’s glorious rebirth amid adversity. His four years and four months in Huangzhou would bring about the crowning achievements of his life in literature, calligraphy, painting, cuisine, philosophy, and the teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism.
