I Ascended After My Two Husbands Died

[Everyone’s favorite heroine; a mostly cheerful story] Chen Xiwei’s first husband was a man of outstanding character who loved her deeply. Sadly, he died young, leaving her nothing but a cold fortune of countless riches. She became a wealthy widow, left with no choice but to cry while sitting on more money than she could ever spend. Her friends comforted her, saying it wasn’t her fault. Her husband must have been too emotionally fragile. Next time, she should find someone shameless. So Chen Xiwei wasted no time finding a second husband. He was a young general, handsome, and shameless. He could play the coy, manipulative type or act like a lovesick puppy, and he never hid how he fawned over her in front of others. He seemed to have an iron constitution and loved her deeply, making him the perfect husband. Unfortunately, fate had other plans: he was short-lived, too. At least he also left her a fortune of countless riches. She became an extremely wealthy widow. A friend said, “I’m shameless and in good health. Why don’t you just settle for me?” Chen Xiwei politely turned him down. Her reason was that if his three brothers started playing cards in the afterlife and got into a fight, then even if they came to her in a dream, she wouldn’t know which one to help. She had it so hard. But then again, how could a world where only cold, hard cash kept her company sustain someone as tender and sensitive as her? Unable to go on, Chen Xiwei cried at her late husbands’ graves for a while, wiped away her tears, and ascended to immortality.
