The Realm of Yuchen
At the end of ancient times, the world underwent a cataclysmic change. Human cultivators and members of every other race discovered that after cultivating, they would rapidly transform into strange beings. No one could escape, no matter their level of cultivation. All races wailed in despair, and no one dared to cultivate anymore.
They could only watch their cultivation stagnate and await their final days as time passed. Everyone lamented that the path of cultivation had been cut off.
To make matters worse, strange beings roamed everywhere. Unlike ordinary cultivators, they felt neither pain nor fear of death. Against an opponent of equal rank, victory was hard to come by, and seven or eight out of every ten cultivators died. Later generations called this period the Desolate Calamity!
But heaven leaves no one without a way out. At the height of this despair, a once-in-an-age genius emerged: Lou Jingtian. After countless arduous experiments, he finally discovered a way to overcome the problem. As long as cultivators absorbed a Desolate Source Crystal after cultivating, they would be safe.
At last, they could cultivate without fear!
