The protagonists of this novel are Ning Yuan, a professor in the Chinese Department at Z University, and Lin Zhi, the CEO of Qiye.
As teenagers, they attended two sister schools, Changqing and Nanning. Whenever their schools held joint exams, they were always tied for first place, rarely making a mistake.
Though they learned of each other’s existence early on, they barely crossed paths.
Both were top students, but they seemed worlds apart to everyone else, and certainly not like people who would get along.
The consensus in their social circles was that Ning Yuan was a refined gentleman, while Lin Zhi was an aloof young master.
But was that really the truth?
Their story officially began when, at the age of twenty-five, Ning Yuan ran into a rather disheveled Lin Zhi in an alley outside Yuefangju!
Ning Yuan fell for Lin Zhi at first sight. He believed that liking someone didn’t mean you had to possess them. Simply watching the person you loved live happily, and being able to help when they needed it, was enough to make him happy. After all, how often does the world offer the good fortune of mutual love?
Still, when fate came knocking, he wouldn’t turn it away.
From the moment he fell in love with Lin Zhi,
Ning Yuan never let his guard down around anyone else.
There is a tiny bit of supernatural content. The first small portion focuses on Ning Yuan and recounts events from the past. Then the story shifts to the two male leads and the events unfolding in the present.
Readers who are here for the story of the two male leads can skip straight to Volume Two. I’m sorry for making the reading experience inconvenient.
Everyone experiences all kinds of things in life, from birth and aging to illness and death, as if they were exiles, temporarily dwelling in this world.
