The Yin-Yang Tree

Two kinds of fruit grow from the same tree, one yin and one yang, each different. Solve the contract of yin and yang, life and death.

He Ermei had always longed to own a home of her own. At last, through a “chance coincidence,” she bought a house she loved. But the seller, Liu Ruyi, had all kinds of strange demands.

Desperate to find a home, He Ermei gladly accepted Liu Ruyi’s terms so she could buy the house at a low price, never realizing she was walking step by step into a trap Liu Ruyi had laid for her.

Fortunately, Ling Lao, the Maoshan master of her daughter Liu Yan’er, stepped in to save them. All five members of the family escaped unharmed, spared the fate of having their lifespans drained away.

After being defeated, Liu Ruyi admitted that she had deliberately sold the house to He Ermei at a low price. She had wanted to extend the life of her chronically ill son, Rong Zhibin. But what she had her eye on was not the immortal bone of the South China tiger, the celestial beast He Ermei had been in her previous life. It was He Ermei’s good-for-nothing husband, Liu Aqi, who was lazy, loved gambling, and frequented brothels.

In the end, neither Liu Ruyi nor He Ermei benefited from the trap hidden in the house sale. The real beneficiary was a thunder demon that dreamed of becoming an immortal.

The yin-yang tree planted years ago by He Ermei’s mother broke the contract of yin and yang, life and death at the critical moment. All of this was thanks to the Earth God’s careful arrangements, and he successfully subdued the evil thunder demon as well.

Greed, anger, and delusion; longing for what cannot be had; resentment at being forced together; sorrow at being parted.
