Liang's Ordeal by Frost Ends in Yangzhou

A fan work based on The Hungry Lamb: Traveling a Thousand Miles in Late Ming, featuring a shared universe.

Alternate title: The Hungry Lamb: Mansui’s Journey to Liang’s Peace

Liang and Mansui honor their nine-year promise and travel together to Yangzhou. Along the way, they meet a scholar; face her parents’ refusal to forgive; awaken from pain; encounter a guide on the road; and are hunted by their enemies.

Told from multiple perspectives, they experience the Ten Days of Yangzhou together. No one knows whether they’ll live or die.

The bleak autumn wind rises; in our twilight years, we answer the nation’s call.

We don our armor once more, our hearts of loyalty still undimmed.

Though our lamps are nearly spent, our ambition has yet to fade.

The old horse knows the way; its cloak is stained red with blood.
