Drunk on the Mortal World

Career-minded princess × lovestruck monk Li Weiran × Jiran Weiran was once the cherished princess of the emperor and empress, the pride of the nation. But an uprising that began from below sent her tumbling from heaven to the depths. The emperor has vanished, the empress is dead, her elder brother lies unconscious, the country has fallen into the hands of traitors, and foreign enemies are watching hungrily. At a time when everyone fears for their own safety, she steps forward and takes charge! “Work with me, and you'll have a bright future,” Weiran declares to the soldiers. “I have food. Follow me, and you'll never run out of grain.” (The soldiers are tempted.) “I have silver. Fifty taels for every enemy you kill.” (The soldiers' eyes burn with excitement.) “Fight with me. Cut down the powerful, and divide up their land.” (The soldiers are fired up, their eyes red.) “End hereditary privilege and reward military merit!” (The soldiers go completely wild: “Our lives are yours!”) And so their ranks grow with every battle. They fight all the way to the capital and seize back power. She clears her name of the slander her enemies spread, transforming her infamous reputation into the highest prestige in the empire. A little scene: Uncle: “She hates you.” Jiran: “You're talking nonsense.” Uncle: “She stabbed you.” Jiran: “But she didn't use the sword that can kill with one blow.” His uncle shakes his head in exasperation. “She stabbed you right in the heart!” Jiran turns pale, but stubbornly insists, “It missed my heart by a hair's breadth.” His uncle takes a deep breath, too angry to speak. “...” Jiran's gaze is obstinate. “So she still loves me.” A lovestruck fool's self-deluding logic, complete in a loop.
