The State of Wu was founded by Taibo, the father of King Wen of Zhou. Taibo, surnamed Ji. Taibo was the eldest son of King Tai of Zhou, Gu Gong Danfu. He was the eldest son, which was the patriarchal line of inheritance at that time. However, Gu Gongdan's father wanted to pass the throne to his third son Ji Li. To avoid disputes, Taibo and his second brother Zhongyong fled to the south of the Yangtze River together. Starting from joining the local Yue travelers who were powerful at the time, they went through various hardships and set up their own business, and finally established the Goudian Ancient Kingdom in Meicun (now Xiongcun, Wuxi, Jiangsu).
From Wu Taibo to King Wu Fucha, there were twenty-five kings, about seven hundred years of history. From the death of brother to brother to the Helu coup, the inheritance of the throne of Wu Kingdom was first full of intrigue and bloodshed.
Starting from King Wu Shoumeng, Wu State embarked on the road of military power, from weak to strong, and reached its peak at Helu. During the war against Vietnam, Helu was wounded by Ling Gufu, a general of the Yue Kingdom in Toe Mansion, and later died of his injuries.
Fucha took over the throne, defeated the Yue Kingdom, captured the Yue King Goujian and took him to the Wu Kingdom as a slave. He was imprisoned in Huqiu Mountain and guarded the tomb of Helu. Later, Wen Zhong, the great medical doctor of the Yue Kingdom, used a beauty trick and asked Fan Li to offer a gift to Fu Chai in exchange for Gou Jian. After Gou Jian returned home, he tried his best to save his strength and wait for an opportunity to take revenge.
After Fu Chai conquered the Yue Kingdom, he then aimed for hegemony in the Central Plains, triggering strong opposition from the Central Plains countries. Zigong lobbied the various vassal states and staged a drama of the times when the mantis stalks the cicada and the oriole stalks the cicada. Fu Chai, who was fighting for the supremacy, seized the opportunity due to the lack of domestic troops. Gou Jian led his army to attack the Wu Kingdom, and finally killed Fu Chai and destroyed the Wu Kingdom.
The history of Wu State has taught us profound lessons. The survival of a country is closely related to political clarity, people's livelihood first, and the strategic determination to uphold peaceful development.
