After years of drifting far from home, I awakened the Slacking System.
I wasn't allowed to work, only to slack off, and the more I did, the richer I got.
I promptly handed in my resignation and prepared to go home and lie flat.
At the station, I called my father, ready to share the good news, though I hadn't figured out how to explain it.
I simply told him I'd lost my job and planned to stay home for a while.
To my surprise, he hung up immediately. When I called again, I couldn't get through.
Confused, I returned home, only to overhear my younger brother complaining.
“She can't even hold down a job and make money. Why come back all of a sudden? What about the down payment for my new home?”
“Oh, don't worry. Your father and I will figure something out.” Mother soothed him. “For now, let's transfer her house into your name.”
My sister-in-law said sarcastically, “Hmph. Is she coming back to freeload off her parents? We don't have room for her!”
