An early work, not recommended for retrospective reading
Lin Qian got married on a whim. She desperately needed a lifeline to pull her out of what she had been through in the past.
But she couldn't understand why Wan Yun had agreed to such an absurd “proposal.”
After all, in Wan Yun's memory, she was just someone he'd met a few times.
The first time Wan Yun saw Lin Qian was at the funeral of his former roommate. The sight of her sobbing uncontrollably left a deep impression on him.
They met again a month later, in his cousin's counseling office. Lin Qian was one of his cousin's patients, and that was when he realized she was a girl with a story to tell.
He married her out of curiosity. He was simply too curious about the kind of person she would grow into.
“He had plenty of choices, but he chose me.”
“Only by his side can I catch my breath, just a little.”
“Only he saw how badly I lost after giving it everything I had, yet still had the courage to reach out and take me to see a world full of colors.”
“I’m not betting that we’ll fall in love. I’m betting that I won’t regret it.”
“I was the first to fall for him.”
“She can be anything she wants. She doesn’t have to shine, or be someone who matches me by society’s standards. As long as she’s there, I’ll like her.”
