This book explores the resistance properties of rivers and their impact on sediment movement. Field and indoor flume tests were carried out to obtain average hydraulic, sediment and riverbed topographic data of the river section. Taking into account the non-uniformity of the spatial flow of the river, a resistance relationship based on river sections was established. Based on the flow resistance characteristics under different relative water depths, a shading function model was established that is suitable for both outdoors and indoors and can cover various relative water depth ranges. Based on the bed topography data from field and indoor flume tests, the bed morphological characteristics were analyzed, and the interaction between flow resistance, bed morphology and sediment movement was discussed.
