The Gu Incense Master

My mother was a perfumer renowned throughout the capital.

The alluring fragrance she concocted for the Noble Consort made her the Emperor's sole favorite in the harem.

It all began when the Emperor looked at my mother one too many times while she was picking flowers.

The jealous Noble Consort flew into a rage!

She cut off my mother's limbs, ruined her face, and chained a collar around her neck, parading her around and humiliating her as much as she could.

My mother died in agony.

Without her alluring fragrance, the Noble Consort gradually fell out of favor. Panicked, she frantically searched for a perfumer.

I helped her win back the Emperor's affection with a newly made alluring fragrance.

The Noble Consort was overjoyed.

She didn't know that what I had made was both an alluring fragrance and a deadly poison.

In the end, her whole body would rot, fill with maggots, and melt into a pool of blood.
