The only thing that made Lawrence suspicious was that the whirlpool located more than ten miles away from the high mountains where the Haoyue clan was entrenched was not heading towards the outpost in the hinterland of the mountain range, nor towards the Fort St. John where the gateway was located. Instead, it was heading straight towards the Songtao Valley in the middle.
