This series of programs is adapted from "The Case of Di Gong of the Tang Dynasty" by the Dutch sinologist Gao Luopei. It includes more than a dozen cases, including the Gold Case, the Lakeside Case, the Red Mansion Case, the Maze Case, the Bronze Bell Case, the Iron Nail Case, the Lacquer Screen Case, the Chaoyun Temple, the Royal Pearl Case, etc.
The book takes Di Renjie, the prime minister of the Tang Dynasty in China, as the protagonist, describing Di Renjie's legendary experience in solving cases and upholding justice for officials in various prefectures and counties. Di Renjie is known as the "Sherlock Holmes of ancient China" by Western readers because of his ability to solve cases like a god.
