Wang Xinmei was born in the countryside and lived in poverty. Her father was disabled, and her mother was in poor health, so she took care of her younger brother and shouldered the family’s burdens alone. During one summer vacation, she happened to meet Zhou Lei, a young man from the city, and from then on she worked hard at her studies.
