General Qi once thought he had married a wife who was more beautiful than a flower but timid as a mouse. Then, at a banquet, when someone provoked her, she promptly poked out their eye with one finger. Only then did he realize something was amiss.
Before he could ask why, he saw his wife standing on the table with her hands on her hips, looking down on everyone. “What? If you can’t stand me, then divorce me!”
Naturally, they never divorced. Not only that, but someone captured his heart, and he willingly became an accomplice to her mischief.
A thoroughly unruly little menace VS a broad-minded, gentle great general
[Scene One]
One day, General Qi was practicing calligraphy in his study.
A subordinate rushed in with a report. “General! Madam’s fighting someone again!”
General Qi was startled. “How many does Madam have? How many are on the other side?”
The subordinate replied, “Madam has three hundred. The other side… has two.”
General Qi flew into a rage. “What? Isn’t that ganging up on the few? Summon the whole army! We’re going to help Madam!”
[Scene Two]
General Qi used to be very wealthy, until he married a wife who devoured gold.
Looking at the dwindling gold reserves of his household, General Qi promised the steward, “I’ll definitely cut back on Madam’s expenses.”
That night, his wife complained, “Old Qi, why is this footbath made of jade? It’s so cold! I want warm mutton-fat jade!”
At first, General Qi stood firm.
But when his wife planted a kiss on the corner of his mouth, he could no longer resist.
With a grand sweep of his hand, the general issued his order: “Someone! Replace everything in and around the general’s residence, right down to the bricks, with mutton-fat jade!”
“Weren’t you supposed to cut back on expenses?” The steward wept outside like a kicked dog.
Make a mark. I've read this book.
The novel is short and superb, so exciting!
