The Years of Climbing the Harem Ranks

Ji Ruxu was initially granted the rank of Talented Lady, a fifth-rank consort, but after entering the palace, she failed to make even the slightest splash.

How could that be acceptable?

Soldiers yearned for military honors, officials sought promotion, and naturally, the women of the imperial harem competed for the emperor’s favor.

Ji Ruxu raised a hand to touch her face and thought, “I entered the palace to win favor, not to remain an unknown. But how can I make a stunning debut?”

Just then, laughter and mocking voices sounded outside.

Ji Ruxu smiled. “Well, look at that. Here’s my chance.”

When the news spread through the harem, Li Chengyan laughed. “It’s rare to find someone so daring in the palace. I wonder if she’s brave or reckless.”

Ji Ruxu replied, “You won’t know whether I’m reckless or clever until you’ve seen me in action, will you?”
