What’s going on?
I was just as shocked. I had no idea why Lu Jin was here.
Lu Zhiqing reacted at once and grabbed my hand. “Sister-in-law, I don’t think my brother saw me. He can’t find out I’m here yet.”
I was too stunned to react. “What?”
Lu Zhiqing explained helplessly, “If my brother finds out that you and I are both here, we’re both done for.”
I nodded, thinking she had a point.
But then, while I wasn’t paying attention, she slipped away.
I stared wide-eyed at Lu Zhiqing’s retreating figure, unable to believe it.
Lu Jin was her brother, her own flesh and blood!
And yet Lu Zhiqing had run off, leaving me alone to face him.
Before I could react, Lu Jin was standing right in front of me.
I immediately hooked my arm through his and buried my face against his chest, rubbing against him. “Lu Jin, what took you so long?”
I looked up at him, blinking pitifully. “Lu Jin, I was wrong. I really was. I won’t do it again. Please forgive me, okay?”
Lu Jin looked down at me, his tone casual. “Have you been drinking?”
I nodded and answered obediently, “Just a little.”
Lu Jin said nothing. I kept my arms around his waist, rubbing my face against his chest. “Lu Jin, can we go home? I’m so sleepy.”
Lu Jin still didn’t say a word. I rose onto my toes, wrapped my arms around his neck, and pressed my cheek to his, pleading sweetly, “Lu Jin, please?”
Lu Jin glanced at me and tapped the tip of my nose. His voice was indulgent. “You really are impossible to refuse.”
