Stories from the Rice Fields: Rural Life in the 1970s

There's no transmigration, no pocket dimension, and no golden finger, just ordinary country life. The protagonist, Zhao Yilin, is the third child in his family. He has two older sisters. One ordinary morning, his second sister comes home, turning the family's life upside down. It turns out her husband has someone else. She wants a divorce, but because of her two children, she gives in after their parents talk her into it. The matter should have ended there, but in the end they still get divorced. When Zhao Yilin finds out, he does everything he can to ruin his brother-in-law's reputation and avenge his sister. With Zhao Yilin leading the way, the family takes down his philandering brother-in-law and helps his kindhearted eldest sister's family escape their misery. He gives his cousin his place in the military, joins his childhood friends in making money, and helps his family and the whole village live better lives. He marries an ordinary country girl, Zhou Lingling, and the two support one another, learn from each other, and grow together...

A simple, wholesome period piece...
