Little Things About Him

[A few little memories]

Two people fell in love with each other at different times. We were both cowards, secretly in love with each other but too afraid to take that first step.

“We were each other’s salvation.”

Once, beneath the magnolia tree, Xia Nian picked up a magnolia blossom and gave it to Wang Jing’an. As they grew older, the boy broke off a magnolia branch for the girl.

“Wang Jing’an, do you know? You’re my cure.”

“I want to climb to the top of the mountain and see you, then say those words. I think I can do it. Will you wait for me?”

“I will. I’ll confess to you beneath the magnolia tree!”

“Xia Nian, I heard your confession!”

But... it was over...

The girl died in that car accident. It was the year the magnolias bloomed most beautifully, and the year he loved her most, when she was eighteen...

At eighteen, Wang Jing’an prepared a coming-of-age celebration for Xia Nian. At twenty-seven, Wang Jing’an held a wedding for Lin Nuan...

“If there were a chance, Xia Nian would say, ‘Happy wedding, young man.’ Just kidding. I won’t get the chance.”

Xia Nian’s love remained frozen at eighteen. In the end, all that was left was forgetting. Wang Jing’an forgot that Xia Nian had loved him, and there was no happy ending...

(This is my first time writing a story, so it’s a little messy. I left a lot of details unclear and made plenty of typos too. I hope you’ll enjoy it.)
