Synopsis

Sun Rong wakes from a nap to find that she has inexplicably transmigrated to the world of Journey to the West. She plans to lay low until the journey is over, only to discover that she has become Sun Wukong's elder sister, born from the same source. She panics. If the Buddhist sect learns that a variable like her exists, will they spare her? They would probably want to snuff her out before she is even born. But after she gets drunk, she mistakes the Queen Mother for Chang'e, insists they become sworn sisters, and curses the Buddha to his face. She asks Taibai, “Are you a woman?” She asks the Jade Emperor, “Are you Wu Gang? Do you really like Chang'e?” Then she asks the Queen Mother, “Is the Jade Rabbit tasty?” For Wukong's sake, this usually sensible woman steals elixirs and peaches, and even brings the Jade Emperor's Haotian Mirror home. When the Buddhist sect confronts her, she answers with a perfectly serious face, “If you have proof, then I lose.” And so Sun Rong begins a very different journey to the West.
