When the protagonist, Ling Yanyan, was six, her father abandoned her, leaving her an orphan. After graduating from college, she worked all sorts of part-time jobs. One night, she ran into some thugs on the road and hurriedly called for help from Feng Zhiming, who was in his car making out with his girlfriend. The moment Feng Zhiming saw Ling Yanyan, he was stunned. She looked almost exactly like Mo Yuqing, his beloved late fiancée. He rescued her.
Two days later, Ling Yanyan applied for a job at Feng Group. Feng Zhiming appointed her as his personal assistant. She wanted to turn him down after receiving the notice, but he threatened the survival of the orphanage, leaving her no choice but to give in. At work, Feng Zhiming was always making unwanted advances toward Ling Yanyan, and eventually he had his way with her. At a banquet, the playboy Li Minghao fell in love with Ling Yanyan and pursued her relentlessly. Feng Zhiming prepared an apartment for himself and Ling Yanyan, and the two lived there happily.
Once, Feng Zhiming took Ling Yanyan to discuss a project with Chairman Ling, who recognized her as his daughter. Since Ling Yanyan was in charge of the project, she often met with Chairman Ling, who always made her feel the warmth of family. After spending so much time with Feng Zhiming, Ling Yanyan gradually fell in love with him. Feng Zhiming proposed to her romantically. When her university senior Yu Chen, who had loved Ling Yanyan for three years, found out, he decided to stop pursuing her.
Someone was always secretly taking photos of Ling Yanyan. Whether she was with Li Minghao, Chairman Ling, or Yu Chen, the pictures were sent anonymously to Feng Zhiming. It was all arranged by Wang Xueyi, Feng Zhiming's current fiancée, who had her lover take the photos. Wang Xueyi later claimed she was pregnant in an attempt to make Feng Zhiming marry her immediately, but he remained devoted to Ling Yanyan and gradually forgot Mo Yuqing. Then Ling Yanyan became pregnant, and at the same time learned that Chairman Ling was her father. She kept her pregnancy secret from everyone. Under pressure from Feng Zhiming's mother, she became convinced she was only a substitute for Mo Yuqing and left Feng Zhiming.
When they met again years later, Feng Zhiming pursued Ling Yanyan with overwhelming determination. Wang Xueyi's scheme had long since been exposed, and her child was not Feng Zhiming's. In the end, she was driven out of the Feng family. Another unexpected revelation was that Ling Yanyan and Mo Yuqing were biological sisters. With all obstacles gone, Ling Yanyan and Feng Zhiming lived happily together.
