Jet Streams Over the Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland

Thirty years ago, an event that swept across the world reduced its population to fewer than two billion. The population density across the continents fell to fewer than eight people per square kilometer, and many major cities were abandoned. The surviving towns and villages became post-apocalyptic strongholds, but mountains, deserts, wastelands, and vast stretches of water severed the connections between them. To preserve human civilization, people established air routes between the strongholds, relying on salvaged and replicated aircraft from the old world to maintain communication and trade. Meanwhile, local militias using old-world fighter planes emerged and rapidly grew in strength. To suppress them, the air forces were rebuilt as well… Once more, scorching jet streams swept across the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
