In his previous life, Shen Weilan was hunted by both the immortal and demonic factions. He suffered the torment of ghostly flames in the Valley of Ten Thousand Cries, while his cultivation partner, Yan Chongguang, stayed by his side through life and death, joining him on the road to the underworld.
The Heavenly Dao had a spirit. Knowing he had been wronged, it gave him the good fortune to return to his youth, before any of it had happened.
At the time, Yan Chongguang had yet to join an immortal sect or change his name. He was merely an uncherished mortal son of a noble family, and Shen Weilan found him.
The little boy called him “Immortal Lord” and “Master” as he circled around him. Shen Weilan taught the boy, Shi Shu, just as Yan Chongguang had once taught him.
He watched him embark on the path to immortality and join a great sect. Clad in white and carrying a sword, he was as noble and radiant as in his previous life, and people, too, honored him as an “Immortal Lord.”
They spent every day and night together. Though the world had changed in small ways, they were still as perfectly in sync as they had been in their previous life.
That was what Shen Weilan believed, right up until Shi Shu drove a blade into his heart.
The white-clad Immortal Lord’s face was exactly the same as in his previous life. Shen Weilan stared in a daze, feeling only the heart-rending pain in his chest.
Why... Why?
He was clearly Yan Chongguang, and yet somehow he was no longer Yan Chongguang.
(Warning: past and present lives, tangled fate, melodrama galore, and all the dramatic tropes.)
Looks good, I'll give it a try
