Beneath the Mystery

A man gazed at the colorful tree covered in black spots before him and said to the woman beside him:

“It’s started again. I’m leaving.”

“Go, Savior.”

Hearing her call him that, the man gave a self-deprecating smile.

“What Savior? I’m just a cleaner.”

With that, he turned to leave and waved a hand over his shoulder.

…

“Ji Li, why do you think things turned out this way?”

Under a starry sky, a man and a woman lay side by side as the woman asked him.

“I don’t know. But one day, we’ll lift the veil of mystery. Then we’ll understand why the world is so terrifying.”

…

“Have you found the truth?”

A man and a woman stood facing each other, and the woman asked once more.

“Perhaps the world is sick. So am I, and so are you.”
